Snow Shoeing

Snowshoeing at Mount Shasta takes you back into the history of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Snowshoes were the mode of transportation for all of the mountain men that explored and trapped for fur in this animal rich gold mining region. In the central portion of America’s mountain ranges Jeremiah Johnson, Jim Bridger, and Jim Baker all made their living snowshoeing their traplines in the surrounding snow laden mountains. Spring would find them headed West towards the "Great Rendezvous" with heavy-laden mules in hopes of trading their winter cache of furs for supplies and money.

Snowshoeing offers you the opportunity to get away from the groomed trails, set your own pace, and explore the ranch much the same as did these mountain explorers from the 1800's. Watch for signs of beaver, rabbits, and other wildlife as you venture into our nearby backcountry.

Unlike our adventurous predecessors, your day will end in one of our soothing hottubs, munching on tasty snacks, and preparing for world class lodging and dining. Try all of our winter activities during your stay at Shasta Lake Properties, and enjoy our version of the celebrated Northern California lifestyle.
